Day 2 — When the World Forgets
"Some histories are erased. Others simply wait for someone willing to remember."
History remembers empires.
Legends remember heroes.
But what happens to the stories that neither history nor legend chooses to keep?
Across the world stand forgotten castles, weathered monuments, and symbols carved into ancient stone. We admire them without knowing who built them. We inherit family heirlooms without asking where they came from. We repeat old traditions without remembering why they began.
Time has a remarkable way of turning truth into mystery.
Eventually, mystery becomes legend.
And legend becomes something we dismiss as impossible.
That single idea became one of the foundations of The Last Memory of Veyrath, the first novel in The Crimson Heir Trilogy.
From the very beginning, I wanted the world to feel older than the story itself. Not simply a place where adventures happen, but a world carrying the weight of forgotten centuries. A place where every ruined wall, every ancient symbol, and every whispered tale hints at a history waiting beneath the surface.
What if the greatest secrets were never destroyed?
What if they were simply... forgotten?
Perhaps entire kingdoms vanished because someone wanted them erased.
Perhaps powerful bloodlines survived by hiding among ordinary people.
Perhaps the stories our grandparents called myths were never meant to entertain us.
Perhaps they were warnings.
That thought has stayed with me throughout the writing of this series.
The characters in The Last Memory of Veyrath begin their journey believing the world is ordinary. Like most of us, they trust what they can see and explain. But every discovery raises another question, until the impossible becomes harder to deny than to believe.
Because the truth doesn't always announce itself.
Sometimes it waits quietly for the right person to ask the first question.
Over the next one hundred days, I'll be opening this archive one page at a time. I'll share the inspirations behind The Crimson Heir Trilogy, the forgotten histories that shaped its world, and glimpses into the mysteries surrounding The Last Memory of Veyrath. There will be no major spoilers—only fragments, clues, and stories that invite you to look a little closer.
Every archive begins with a single page.
Thank you for opening this one with me.
Behind the Story
Long before I wrote the opening chapter of The Last Memory of Veyrath, I imagined centuries of history that no reader would ever see directly. Those forgotten years shaped every symbol, every legend, every ruined place, and every mystery throughout the trilogy. My hope is that, as you follow these posts, you'll begin to feel as though you're uncovering that hidden history alongside the characters.
Archive Question
If you found an ancient journal claiming that everything your family believed about its past was wrong... would you keep reading?
Or would some truths be better left forgotten?
